Meet Jean Hynes '87, a trailblazing Fontbonne alumna whose leadership has made history in the global financial industry.


After graduating from Fontbonne in 1987, Jean earned her bachelor's degree from Wellesley College before beginning a career in investment management. She joined Wellington Management in 1991 as a healthcare analyst and steadily rose through the firm's investment ranks, becoming one of its most respected portfolio managers and leaders.


In 2021, Jean made history when she was named Chief Executive Officer of Wellington Management, becoming the first woman to lead the Boston-based global asset management firm in its decades-long history. Today, she oversees one of the world's largest independent investment management companies, serving clients across the globe with a focus on long-term investing, innovation, and responsible leadership.


Throughout her career, Jean has been recognized not only for her financial expertise but also for her thoughtful leadership, commitment to collaboration, and dedication to mentoring the next generation of professionals.
