Rallies Around One of Their Own

In June 2026, Emily (Baker) Quinn '08 received the devastating news that her nearly five-year-old daughter, Lily, had been diagnosed with leukemia.


Emily is currently on leave from her career to care for Lily as she undergoes treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Jimmy Fund Clinic, with plans to return to work in October. Alongside her husband, Kevin, and their young son, James, the Quinn family is navigating what is expected to be a two-and-a-half-year journey toward healing.


As soon as the Class of 2008 learned of Lily's diagnosis, classmates rallied around the Quinn family, organizing gifts and care packages to bring comfort during this difficult time.

Emily shared her gratitude:


"Thank you all so much for the incredibly thoughtful gift for Lily. We were released from the hospital earlier than expected, so instead of decorating a hospital room, she is now using everything to decorate her little room at home, and she is absolutely loving it. It means so much that you thought of our family after all these years."


Continuing to rally around Lily and the Quinn family, a team is dedicating their Jimmy Fund Walk to Lily, with Emily’s husband, Kevin, joining the team and walking in her honor. Together, they are raising critical funds to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s lifesaving cancer care and research. Emily's story is a powerful reminder that the Fontbonne sisterhood doesn't end at graduation. When one member of our community needs support, others show up with compassion, generosity, and love.

Meet Veronique (Daphnis) Chisholm ’07, proud Fontbonne alumna and Vice Chair of the Fontbonne Board of Trustees. Veronique knew early on that she wanted a career in business and a seat at the table where important financial decisions were being made. After taking a summer course on investing, she found her path. Today, she continues to work in the investment world in a strategic capacity while remaining committed to bringing financial knowledge to women and minority communities. For Veronique, Fontbonne played an important role in giving her the confidence to pursue that path. “This version of me exists because Fontbonne Academy got to me first — before the industry, before anyone had the chance to make me question whether my voice belonged in the room.” As one of very few women in her industry, Veronique credits Fontbonne’s all-girls environment with teaching her early that her voice and perspective had value. She went on to become the first Black woman on an investment team at a firm, carrying with her the confidence and courage she developed at Fontbonne. Now, her journey has come full circle as she gives back to the school that helped shape her, serving as Vice Chair of the Fontbonne Board of Trustees. “I believe in lifting others as you climb. I mentor often, making sure other women in the room feel as seen as I was taught to feel.” From the halls of Fontbonne to the investment world — and now back to Fontbonne in a leadership role — Veronique continues to embody what it means to be a Woman of Courage.

Before the festivities began, Clare Duncan ’27 brought her Nana to the office to hear her deliver the morning announcements—a sweet “bring your grandmother to school” moment! Across two generations, the Devin and Duncan family’s Fontbonne story includes three daughters, five granddaughters, and three class presidents: Lisa, Hannah, and Clare. As Clare’s senior year marks the final chapter of this family’s time as students at Fontbonne, we celebrate the generations of love, leadership, and memories they have shared. Thank you to all the grandparents and grandfriends who made today so special!
